Where brothers meet upon the level and part upon the square.

The Lodge is the physical manifestation of an ancient idea β€” that men of different faiths, backgrounds, and stations can gather in brotherhood to seek light. The Lodge is not a building; it is a state of consciousness. It is the place where the profane ends and the sacred begins, where the compass circumscribes our desires and the square corrects our actions.

The Purpose of the Lodge

A Lodge exists for three purposes: to make good men better, to serve the community, and to preserve ancient knowledge. Every Lodge meeting is a ritual β€” a carefully designed experience that uses symbolism, drama, and repetition to imprint lessons on the subconscious mind. The tools of the operative mason β€” the plumb, the level, the trowel β€” become metaphors for moral virtues. The plumb teaches uprightness. The level teaches equality. The trowel teaches brotherly love.

The Three Degrees

Entered Apprentice: You are new. You know nothing. You are placed in darkness and brought to light. The lesson: humility. You cannot build if you think you already know.

Fellow Craft: You climb the winding staircase of knowledge. You study the seven liberal arts and sciences. The lesson: education. Mastery requires study.

Master Mason: You face the legend of Hiram Abiff β€” the master builder who chose death over betraying the secrets of the craft. The lesson: integrity. Some truths are worth dying for.

The Call

If you feel the call to seek light, if you desire to improve yourself in Masonry, if you wish to join a brotherhood that has endured for centuries β€” the door is open to those who knock. Amelia Lodge No. 47 stands ready to receive the worthy.

So mote it be.
